The Donator

Hyères

Come and discover a legendary wreck on the Var coast! The Donator

WRECK HISTORY...
Built in Norway in 1931, this cargo ship was christened "Le Donator". She was sold in 1933 and again in 1939, when she was bought by the Compagnie Schiaffino, who transformed her into a pinardier and renamed her "Prosper Schiaffino". In October 1945, in heavy seas, she jumped onto a surface mine between the islands of Porquerolles and Port-Cros and sank very quickly.
A single dive won't be enough to discover everything! The wreck lies upright on a sandy bottom. The propeller is huge, as is the spare propeller behind the stern castle. The superb large steering wheel will leave you speechless! You can enter the passageways, looking for the galley, crew quarters with bathtub, wine vats and engines in the aft hold.

FLORA AND FAUNA:
The flora and fauna are not to be outdone! You'll rub shoulders with moray eels, sea breams, groupers, castagnoles, red mullets, conger eels, barbiers, brown scorpion fish, mostelles... not to mention the enormous gorgonians and sponges that have colonized the superstructures.
