paradise islands and peninsulas

Wild and beautiful

Nature and biodiversity

The coastal towns and villages of Provence Méditerranée are magnified by islands and peninsulas with unspoilt landscapes. On the islands of Port-Cros, Giens and Les Embiez, the remarkable biodiversity makes scuba diving and birdwatching ideal. The Giens peninsula in Hyères and the Gaou peninsula in Six-Fours are natural sanctuaries that invite you to hike by the sea and take part in guided tours to explore them. If you already know Porquerolles, Le Levant and Les Embiez for their heavenly beaches and coves, set off all year round to discover their history – witnessed by numerous forts – their vineyards, their orchards and their art of living, for a day or a stay.

Porquerolles, queen of the islands

Porquerolles is the largest of the three Hyères islands, covering an area of 12.54 km². To the north, the beaches invite you to enjoy an idyllic swim. To the south, cliffs plunge sheer into the sea, creating a relief of coves, promontories, gorges and capes. Inland, the landscapes of vineyards, olive groves and orchards make it look like a Garden of Eden. The paths wind between pines, eucalyptus and the many plant species valued by the botanical conservatory. The island can be visited on foot or by bike.

Bought by Paul Ricard in the 1950s as a family vacation resort, the Ile des Embiez is an exceptional destination for a 100% nature holiday. Apart from the port and village, the island’s natural areas are entirely unspoilt. Whether on foot, by bike or in the little train, on the island also known as “L’île aux fleurs”, you’ll alternate between vineyards, pine forests, salt marshes and creeks. The beaches have retained their wild beauty, and the seabed is well worth snorkeling to admire. Paul Ricard’s commitment to the environment has made the Ile des Embiez in Six-Fours-les-Plages a model for the protection of flora and fauna.
