Sustainable tourism

In Provence Méditerranée

The Office de Tourisme Provence Méditerranée team works hard every day to promote its territory and ensure its harmonious development, while respecting our environment and its inhabitants, and taking the development of all our employees to heart.

Environment, role in society, accessibility to all and everywhere: the Provence Méditerranée Tourist Office is committed to keeping up with the times, and looking to the future and the impact of its activity in harmony with the elements that make up its identity.

To ensure that this commitment is put into practice, we are committed to actively listening to our customers, whether they are visitors from outside the region, local residents, professionals or other players involved in tourism, with the satisfaction of their needs as our leitmotiv. We are therefore committed to evaluating all our actions and to continuous improvement, in order to systematize our approach to progress.

The Tourist Office’s CSR commitments

The Provence Méditerranée Tourist Office strives to have the value of its quality, economic, social, environmental and cultural commitments recognized through national commitments, brands, labels and certifications.

Provence Méditerranée Convention des Entreprises pour le Climat (CEC) :
Tourism is a major economic sector for our region. Not only does it generate direct financial spin-offs, but it also provides numerous facilities and activities, benefiting local residents on a daily basis.
In order to ensure that this activity continues in a way that is environmentally sound, has a positive impact on the climate, and is in harmony with the local population, the Provence Méditerranée Tourist Office has decided to embark on a major initiative aimed at thoroughly re-examining its actions, in conjunction with its stakeholders.

In April, the Tourist Office joined the Provence Méditerranée Convention des Entreprises pour le Climat (CEC). This public-interest association, born out of the Citizens’ Climate Convention, brings together companies of all sizes and from a wide range of sectors, working together to imagine and develop new economic models that are both sustainable and respectful of the living world.

The region’s commitments

Resource management, commitments, labels, brands or certifications for responsible tourism, protection of fragile natural environments… Here are all the steps taken in the region to protect our exceptional environment.

“Qualité Tourisme”

The Provence Méditerranée Tourist Office has been awarded the Qualité Tourisme label for all its reception and information services. Qualité Tourisme is a registered trademark created by the French government, which establishes service quality criteria throughout the customer relationship, before, during and after the stay.

port-cros national park

Created in 1963, Port-Cros National Park is Europe’s first marine park. In Provence Méditerranée, it includes Hyères and its islands, as well as the communes of Le Pradet and La Garde. Its role is central to the protection and preservation of flora and fauna, both on land and at sea. Throughout the year, the park carries out a wide range of activities to raise awareness of our eco-system.

natura 2000

Mont Caume and Mont Faron, Cap Sicié, the Brusc lagoon, the roadstead and islands of Hyères and the Hyères and Pesquiers salt marshes are all Natura 2000 sites. This classification lists European natural sites, identified for the rarity or fragility of the wild species and natural environments they shelter.

the pelagos sanctuary

The Pelagos sanctuary, a vast area between the French, Italian and Sardinian coasts, aims to implement concerted actions between these three countries to protect the marine mammals that inhabit these waters. Pollution, noise, accidental capture and injury, and disturbance are just some of the damage the sanctuary is working to prevent.
