Notre-Dame-de-Pépiole

A discreet masterpiece

Divinity and serenity

The Notre-Dame-de-Pépiole chapel in Six-Fours-les-Plages is a treasure trove of pre-Romanesque art nestled in the heart of Provence. Built in the VIth century, it reveals a sacred architecture of timeless beauty, with its delicate arches and sublime vaults. It embodies Provencal elegance. Surrounded by a peaceful wooded atmosphere, the chapel offers visitors a place of contemplation and admiration. Every stone at Notre-Dame-de-Pépiole tells a story, linking the past with spirituality.

One of France’s oldest religious buildings

The walls of the Pépiole chapel, built as early as the 6th century of dry stone in the colors of Provence, illuminate the beautifully restored building. Three naves, three altars, no frills, simple, rustic decor: these are the hallmarks of Notre-Dame-de-Pépiole. Whatever your beliefs, you can’t help but succumb to the charm of the place.

Simple and atypical

Renovated in 1956, the chapel has been listed as a historic monument since 1967. The sober, elegant interior features a smiling statue of the Virgin and Child. Made of rowan wood and dating from the 16th century, it bears the scars of the French Revolution. The stained glass windows, made from coloured bottle bottoms, give the place a special luminosity and atmosphere. You are free to visit the chapel outside the celebrations.
