The Quatuor Caliente: Since its foundation in Paris in the early 2000s, the Quatuor Caliente has been attracting attention on the Tango Nuevo scene. Formed by four eclectic and passionate musicians, the group won the "Piazzolla Music Award" at Milan's Blue Note Jazz Club in 2004, before recording their first album, "Libertango", on the Aeon / Harmonia Mundi label. Their performances and recordings are unanimously acclaimed by audiences and critics alike.
The Quatuor Caliente performs regularly throughout France and Europe (Switzerland, Italy, Belgium). Numerous leading venues and events have already welcomed them.
The group has also been invited on several occasions to the "Virtuosi" International Festival in Recife (Brazil), each time receiving a warm and enthusiastic welcome. Plans for the coming seasons include a debut in Asia, with concerts in Taiwan and China.
Since its creation, the Quatuor Caliente has been a regular guest on France Musique (Un mardi idéal, la Matinale, live from festivals). France Inter (le Fou du Roi, le Pop Club), France Télévision, as well as TSF, FIP and Mezzo radio stations.
Tango has always been inseparable from its flagship instrument, the bandoneon. What better way to express the passion, passion, sensuality and heart-rending nostalgia of this music? Naturally, a number of bandoneon composers feature prominently in this program: Julian Plaza, Annibal Troilo and, of course, Astor Piazzolla, undoubtedly the most emblematic and innovative. Piazzolla, the "revolucionario", was nonetheless a fervent admirer of the tutelary figure of every musician: Johann Sebastian Bach. Well aware of this influence, he brought it out magnificently in many of his compositions.
In turn, the Quatuor Caliente extends this distant but very real filiation, offering transcriptions and adaptations as audacious as they are seductive. A mirror-image encounter between two timeless geniuses, now universally recognized, who continue to surprise and move us.
